Bobby Heenan manipulated Andre the Giant into thinking that he could beat Hulk Hogan to become the WWE Champion. When he convinced Andre to go after Hogan prior to WrestleMania 3, it made Andre one of the top heels in the business after a very successful run as a babyface. It was the right move at the time because WWE needed challengers for Hogan, and Andre had more credibility than anybody. Over the next three years, Andre didn't actually become WWE Champion although he did come close in controversial fashion. He was getting older, so he was wrestling less often and formed the Colossal Connection team with Haku, who was also managed by Heenan. Following the Colossal Connection loss to Demolition in a match where Andre barely did anything because he couldn't move much at all, his manager Bobby Heenan blamed him. Heenan slapped him in the face, which was a bad move - Andre grabbed him by the throat and punched him. The crowd popped huge for it. When Haku attacked Andre, he was caught and Andre kicked him out of the ring too. It was a great sight to see Andre cheered as he left the ring during his last WrestleMania match.
