5. Marlena & Goldust
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHgHerSGelg In an effort to spite his legendary father and get out of his shadow, Dustin Runnels created the envelope-pushing character of Goldust. Goldust had a extravagant robes, an entrance fit for Hollywood ... and a beautiful director befitting any major motion picture production: his real-life wife, Terri (aka Marlena). Sable pranced and preened for "Wildman" Marc Mero. Chyna grimaced and glared in Triple H.'s corner. But Marlena? She was drastically different, dressed in sleek form-fitting gowns while seated in a director's chair, chomping on a cigar. Goldust was unlike anyone else who had ever arrived in WWE, utilizing his sexual ambiguity to mess with his opponents' heads so his manager had to be unlike anyone else as well. The couple appeared on the cover of RAW Magazine, painted in gold, for a rather revealing pictorial and are also well known for breaking the fourth wall and revealing their real names and real life with daughter Dakota; producing some of the most memorable "shoot" promos in the early stages of the Attitude Era. Their break-up took place during one of these infamous promos as Dustin announced he had found someone else who allowed him to be himself ... reducing a blindsided Terri to tears. With their marriage and on-screen relationship coming to an end, many believed they'd never see Terri again, until she found the most opportune time (thanks to Val Venis) to pop up again to make Dustin pay for his humiliation of her. She waited, like, a whole damn year ... talk about being patient.
