Who would’ve thought that mimicking the actions of one of WWE’s most annoying characters would make you so popular?
As the Miz’s stunt double/personal/assistant/new archrival, Damien Sandow’s popularity has exploded over the past five months or so. His over-the-top antics have allowed him to outshine his mentor, and he gets some of the loudest ovations on a regular basis. That, coupled with an overall consistency in his actual wrestling ability, as well as his past experience as an obnoxious know-it-all, makes Sandow one of the most versatile wrestlers on the current roster.
That said, there’s a lot of uncertainty in Sandow’s future. Once his feud with Miz ends, what then? Will he reclaim his own name and get a push? Or will he fade away into the background again? Because of the organic and unexpected nature of his current storyline, it’s hard to predict where he’ll be in a few months. Hopefully he’ll stay in the upper mid-card where he belongs. A man who once held the Money in the Bank Briefcase and had a great match with John Cena certainly deserves at least that.
