WWE's 53 Wrestlers Ranked From Worst To Best
18. Bad News Barrett/King Barrett (2015 King Of The Ring)
Pros:
1. Big, tall and muscular
2. Has a great ‘Bad News’ Gimmick
3. Has legitimacy as a bare-knuckle fighter, which would ideally make him more of a credible threat
Cons:
1. Injuries have derailed his push
2. The ‘Wasteland’ is one of the least-effective-looking finishers in WWE
3. He’s 37 and still a mid-carder
Wade Barrett could’ve been WWE Champion five years ago when the Nexus was the hottest thing going. He has all the attributes that Vince loves, and has a degree of legitimacy and dangerousness as a former bare knuckle fighter. Sadly, backstage politics seriously damaged the credibility of that group, with Barrett losing his star power more than anyone else.
Since then, Barrett has been nothing more than a mid-carder, a big fish in a deep ocean. Every time he would get some momentum, something would delay his push, whether it was injuries or visa issues. He has been Intercontinental Champion 5 times, yet not even that has led him to reach the main event level.
On the other side, Barrett won the 2015 King of the Ring, and has since adopted the ‘King’ moniker that accompanies it. Hopefully this will be the stepping stone he needs to be considered a main-event Superstar, instead of just another face chasing the company’s secondary title.
Final Rating: ***3/4
