4. Randy Orton

Pros:

1. Has ‘the look’ of a pro wrestler without a doubt

2. Is a very good wrestler overall, and one could very well build a promotion around him

3. Awesome finisher

Cons:

1. Also capable of putting on less-than-stellar matches

2. Much better as a heel than as a face

3. Sometimes cuts boring promos when they’re scripted

Randy Orton has all the tools needed to have a new wrestling promotion around him. He has the look of a pro wrestler, he has a lot of good feuds and matches under his belt, and his finisher, the RKO, has exploded into one of the most popular internet phenomena in recent memory.

On the other hand, Orton doesn’t always shine while in the ring, as demonstrated by his less-than-stellar matches in his past. Furthermore, Randy Orton is much better in the heel role. He has a natural arrogance, swagger and temperament more suited to being the bad guy, and has said several times that he prefers being the bad guy over the good guy. Also, his voice has been described as ‘monotone’ and his promos lackluster.

Still, get used to seeing Orton in an upper-mid-card or main event role. He’s in better shape injury-wise than some of his fellow main-eventers, and is slowly morphing into a neutral character who demolishes whoever’s in his way. And that’s the role that Orton truly belongs in.

Final Rating: ****1/2
