WWE's Latest Disaster Is About To Get EVEN WORSE

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The thing is, though, is that Roman Reigns is no longer the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He is the disputed WWE Universal Champion (!), and WWE can't bin off the belt with the actually great lineage because the promotion is obsessed with the 1,000+ number. It is a mess in the semantics before the actual star power of the players involved is considered, or WWE's future creative plans.

Triple H tried to get the new title over by licking the fan's arses, but in doing so, he created a retroactive plot hole. He stated that WWE isn't particularly happy with the way in which Roman Reigns has conducted himself as champion. Triple H, while admitting that he would have done something similar in his day, said on Raw that Roman has "negotiated" himself into a position where he doesn't have to "frequently" defend the title. "While I don't blame Roman for that, and while that is great for Roman Reigns, it isn't great for WWE".

The subtext was damning. Triple H all but said that nobody can beat him, there are few opportunities for anybody to beat him, and the B+ players might as well fight over something because it's getting a bit boring. Triple H told you that Raw is pointless with nothing to fight for, so what does that say about the last year and change? Under his watch, no less?

The silver medal quality to the new Big Gold isn't the only problem here: if Roman's run with the belt isn't good for WWE, why didn't WWE ban the Bloodline from ringside at WrestleMania 39, or more often than the two times they've done so since the stable was formed? In the old, logical world, a fair promotion would have booked a cage match with no interference. Instead, by pumping out Roman monologue matches for what feels like a lifetime at this point, WWE has at the very least depicted itself as a wildly incompetent organisation. Didn't Triple H congratulate Roman Reigns on the Raw after WrestleMania, without a wry, resigned grin on his face? How did they not expect a ref bump and interference to happen in every single match?
