Rey Mysterio was tested positive for amphetamines on February 13th, a substance which is classed as a violation of WWE's wellness policy. At the time of his test failure, he profusely pleased his innocence, claiming he had not taken anything that would cause him to failure. WWE requested that Mysterio submit all the different medications he was taking to pass on to doctors to investigate to see if there was a legit reason why he was testing positive for amphetamines. It is now believed that a dietary supplement that Mysterio was taking to lose weight during his injury lay-off is the reason for his failure as it may have contained a small amount of amphetamines. During the investigation, talk within the WWE of tension between WWE and Mysterio emerged and WWE officials were told not to come up with any plans or storylines that would give him any kind of push upon his return. WWE suspended Mysterio on April 26th for two months after the evaluation of his case, meaning he won't be eligible to return to action until June 25th where he will be fully recovered from this injury. This means another lengthy lay-off for the WWE superstar who hasn't wrestled for the company since August. This latest suspension is likely to cost Mysterio around $166,667 in salary as he is not working on the road. source - wrestling observer newsletter
