Like Becky Lynch, Ambrose winning the top prize was an incredible moment because of the way in which he had been overshadowed for so long by wrestlers he was no less worthy than. Always second-best to Reigns, Ambrose not only walked out of Money in the Bank as WWE Champion, but more importantly retained the title in the much-anticipated Shield Triple Threat.

Although that match didn't elicit the response WWE had been hoping for, he quickly took on an immense challenge in the surging AJ Styles. This feud saw Styles take almost all of the credit which is unfair seeing as Ambrose made the best of his short title run. The ironman of the current roster, working more matches than anyone, this was coupled perfectly with an early-year run with the 'workhorse belt,' which saw him lay his body on the line for the title in a last man standing match at the Royal Rumble. It seems his do-or-die attitude raises the prestige of whatever belt he is holding.
