On the February 24th 1997 Raw, ECW invaded the WWF in what looked like a real run in. A range of Paul Heyman's wrestlers had spots on the show, asserting the idea that they were a rogue element that was going to punish the WWF. It was the sort of edgy angle that WWF fans weren't used to seeing, creating a cauldron of heat in the live arena. ECW had practically invented the "holy S***" chant, greatly raising the stakes of what wrestlers needed to do to shock the fans. That is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your perspective. The exclamation point of the invasion was Sabu diving off the top of the Raw sign, which was the sort of leap that fans just weren't used to seeing on WWF broadcasting.
