3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 - Results & Review
DOWNS…
5. THAT Was A Stadium Show?
Once upon a time, stadiums were reserved for the biggest cards, the most significant wrestling shows out there. And while Survivor Series still is one of WWE’s “Big Four” PLEs, Saturday’s show would hardly qualify as one of the company’s biggest cards.
WWE lured 45,000 fans to Petco Park in San Diego for Survivor Series Saturday night and delivered a four-match card with about 110 minutes of in-ring action spread over three-plus hours. The action varied from competent-yet-disappointing to fun-and-overbooked, with none of the matches reaching that rarified air of outstanding or classics.
Sure, there were a couple of spots in the two WarGames matches that will get some replays (Iyo Sky’s trashcan leap is always popular), and John Cena losing to the entire Judgment Day (not just Dominik Mysterio) was a fun experience, but imagine snagging pricey tickets in the upper deck to watch that live. Does anyone think that was a significant show, worthy of a stadium?
Hey, if WWE is redefining what it means to have a stadium show, then so be it. But that was not what you’d typically envision for something being billed as an epic showdown.
