11 Ways Battleground 2015 Changed WWE's Future

1. 1.3 Million Network Subscribers For SummerSlam?

Battleground set it up for SummerSlam to be a huge draw on the WWE Network. The ending was one massive angle for the next special, with the hope that August's show can pop 1.3 million Network subscribers. That 1.3 million number is what WWE attained for WrestleMania, and the idea for SummerSlam is that Lesnar versus Undertaker is a WrestleMania level match. Undertaker has huge appeal to occasional viewers, while Lesnar continues to have a mainstream identity. Putting the two men together is about as big of a match as WWE can make, even if the creative logic is somewhat lacking. The Network numbers are thought to have fallen dramatically since Mania. Can Lesnar versus Taker actually get it back to 1.3 million? Probably not. But it has as good a shot as anything else WWE could've tried. The immediate future of WWE is banking on success from what Battleground set up with Brock and Taker.
