"Few wrestlers have sabotaged their own careers as badly as Enzo Amore". Velveteen Dream has entered the chat! Patrick Clark's behaviour cost him a promising WWE career. He was once the crown jewel of NXT, and he seemed destined to become a smash hit on the main roster, but then screenshots surfaced on Reddit which appeared to show Dream grooming underage boys and girls via Instagram.

Yikes.

Clark denied the allegations, and police investigated but found no evidence that'd convict him. However, Velveteen's erm...dreams of becoming the next top WWE star were dashed. He did return to the promotion for a while, but was eventually released in May 2021. It was some fall from grace for somebody who had been a true darling of NXT TakeOver events.

Patrick has since tried to rebuild his wrestling career on the independent circuit, but he's never had a prayer of resuming his WWE run. Adding fuel to the fire, the guy was arrested twice in 6 days in August 2022. Both sets of charges (for battery/trespassing and drug paraphernalia possession) were dropped, but he was in the news for wholly negative reasons once more regardless.

Incredibly, around that same time, Velveteen was campaigning for a WWE comeback and calling on support to make it happen. Understandably, the company flat out weren't interested. They didn't need the kind of drama and poor PR that Clark was bringing with him. You don't consistently make those kinds of headlines then merrily show back up on TV like nothing happened, basically.

#BringBackVelveteenDream was destined to fizzle out, and it did.
