15 Wrestlers That Got BANNED From WWE
12. Alberto Del Rio
Where to start with this one?
Alberto Del Rio was released by WWE the first time in August 2014 after a physical altercation with a staff member who had allegedly made racist comments towards him. He made a shock return to topple John Cena for the United States Title at Hell In A Cell 2015, but was gone again by September 2016. By then, Del Rio was publicly unhappy with the way he was being handled in WWE.
The controversy surrounding Alberto was only just beginning. He claimed he was attacked by someone with a knife in late-2016, and had a toxic relationship with Paige/Saraya that wasn't healthy for either party. Despite that, the couple got engaged before later splitting up. As if that wasn't enough, Del Rio was then arrested in May 2020 on charges of battery and sexual assault.
After being released on bail, Alberto was convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault in October. The charges against him would eventually be dropped over a full year later in December 2021. None of this drama outside the ring was doing his pitch to rejoin WWE for a third run in the promotion any favours.
The press had to clarify things when reports surfaced that he'd technically re-signed with WWE due to links with AAA in May 2025, but he hasn't reappeared on WWE programming since then. That probably isn't going to happen - Triple H, like Vince McMahon before him, might deem it wise to steer clear of the controversial Mexican star and his topsy turvy private life.
He's surely on the 'no go' list.
