7 Wrestlers Who Got Fired RIDICULOUSLY Fast

6. Buff Bagwell (7 Days)

In the time Buff Bagwell was an employed and featured wrestler on WWE television, the WCW brand was launched with him at the front-of-house, buried thanks to beatdowns from existing stars, completely retooled, aligned with Extreme Championship Wrestling and donated to Shane and Stephanie McMahon as the latest vehicle to get them over.

By the time the reveal of the kids being given the keys was playing out, Bagwell was already out of a job.

He'd been booed out of the building during a stinker of a match against Booker T on the prior week's Raw, convincing everybody within the company that the entire idea was a bust. The match failed to entertain the live crowd and was extremely dull, but it wasn't completely the fault of the wrestlers. The WCW logo overtop of all the WWE branding was alienating to audiences who had been told do despise the very letters over the past few year - they were reacting in the pavlovian way Vince McMahon had wanted until now, when he simply expected them to be buzzing to have an average Nitro match in front of them.

In the end, Bagwell's exit was as much to do with things off camera as on. He was allegedly involved in backstage incidents with Shane Helms, and veteran wrestlers/backstage nightmares Hardcore Holly and Bradshaw were more than happy to pile on. That his mother (and former WCW regular) Judy was often the one ringing up to protest things on his behalf didn't help either. He'd received quite the pop when Vince McMahon had originally polled a live crowd for potential signees. When the pops dissolved, so too did Buff's chance of surviving the backlash.
