AEW Injury List: Every Injured Wrestler (& When They're Set To Return)

Detailing every AEW and ROH wrestler that's currently on the injured list.

By Jamie Kennedy /

AEW

Sadly, there are currently loads of wrestlers out injured across major companies like WWE and AEW.

The list of WWE injuries is ever-changing as workers recuperate then eventually return to TV, and the same goes for Tony Khan's All Elite product. Credit must go to both promotions for doing right by talent during an uncertain time mentally and physically - it won't exactly do wonders for anyone personally if they're stuck back at home watching everyone else rip it up on Dynamite, Collision and AEW pay-per-view, for example.

Of course, some injuries are worse than others, but they're all listed here. Consider this a go to guide for who's benched in AEW and ROH. It'll be updated as and when wrestlers go down mid-match, during training or even just through various illnesses that keep them out for any length of time. Sometimes, illness is even scarier than a mid-match muscle tear.

All of them are depressing for the talent involved though. They deserve everyone's full support as they rehab and/or go under the knife for surgery. Setbacks post-surgery can be a real threat to someone's career too, so that shouldn't be ignored either. Generally, everyone inside the biz and outside looking in hopes these men and women make a full recovery as soon as they can.

So, who's been posted missing on episodes of Dynamite, Collision and ROH lately? Also, how did they get injured in the first place and when can they be expected back (if there's a known timeline for return)? It's all here.

Adam Cole (Head Injury)

AEW

A tearful Adam Cole announced to the world live inside the ring at All In Texas on 12 July 2025 that he'd be stepping away from active wrestling for a while. "For a while" is vague, but Cole's head was all over the place in Arlington, and he reportedly contemplated announcing his full-blown retirement from the biz before "cooler heads prevailed" on the day.

Obviously, nobody wants to see that. People want to see a healthy Adam Cole giving his all and contributing, but his TNT Title reign was cut off by head injuries that remain fairly mysterious. Fingers crossed he's on the mend, but any head-related trauma doesn't sound great, and it's been nearly a year.

Kyle Fletcher (Meniscus)

AEW

Then-reigning TNT Champ Kyle Fletcher was reportedly spotted wearing a walking boot after the 28 March episode of Collision. He shredded his meniscus and won't be able to complete the title reign, which is a bit of a downer for such a promising rising star.

Fletcher has nailed his colours to the AEW mast in recent times, and seemed to be on top of the world during recent media commitments in the UK. Then, he suffered a serious setback. Tony Khan's booking will be waiting on him, at least.

Jay White (Broken Hand)

AEW

'Switchblade' Jay White was removed from AEW's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament on the 2 April 2025 episode of flagship show Dynamite. Earlier before the show, Fightful Select had reported that White was struck down with a mystery injury that'll force him to undergo surgery.

Details on exactly what the injury was were scarce at the time, but it was later revealed that Jay had a nasty hand injury which required attention. On TV, AEW explained away White's absence by claiming he'd been attacked by the Death Riders. There's currently no timescale available on his return, but it unfortunately looks like Jay will be out of action for a while.

Buddy Matthews (Ankle)

AEW

Buddy's injury was a random one. AEW news revealed he rolled his ankle mid-entrance before tangling with Kazuchika Okada on All Elite's Grand Slam special in Australia on 15 February last year. Thankfully, Matthews still managed to jet off for his long-awaited honeymoon with WWE star Rhea Ripley.

He was on crutches for a while, and his return is very much still up in the air. The extent of the damage must've been pretty severe, and there's a decent chance Buddy injured his ankle by working a tough match vs. Okada.

Keith Lee (Undisclosed)

AEW

The last few years have been a rough ride for celebrated big man Keith Lee. He hasn’t wrestled since beating Brian Cage on the 23 December 2023 Collision. Lee was supposed to work with Swerve Strickland at Worlds End 2023, but the match was pulled. Now, undisclosed injury and illness concerns mean he hasn’t been medically cleared at time of writing.

Keith has posted on social media to thank fans for their continued support. He's also reportedly been backstage at AEW shows once or twice to hang out and catch up with friends.

Luchasaurus (Shoulder)

AEW

Reports came in that AEW star Killswitch had collapsed at home on 30 September 2024 and was rushed to hospital. Doctors quickly diagnosed him with double pneumonia, which is downright scary. Speaking of which, it was the wrestler's fiance who walked in and found him on the floor.

Early claims said he'd be good to go in around a month, but MSN reported he'd suffered setbacks and still hasn't returned to screens at time of writing. Naturally, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to health and a proper scare like this.

Since then, the renamed Luchasaurus (he went back to his old ring name there) has suffered a shoulder injury and thus gone back on AEW's injured list.

Returning: TBC

Wardlow (Pectoral Injury)

AEW

Stop/start push victim Wardlow seemed to suffer his knee injury during a 31 January 2024 match vs. Komander on Dynamite, but the Undisputed Kingdom member soldiered on until April before tapping out to go rehab his knee. Since then, he's returned and suffered another injury, this time to his pec.

There's been little word since on exactly when he'll be back on Dynamite, Collision and more.

Fingers crossed the big guy is healthy and primed to get his AEW career back on track once he returns. He still has untapped potential, but the past few years haven't been kind.

Returning: TBC

Dustin Rhodes (Knee)

AEW

Longtime veteran star Dustin Rhodes needed quick surgery on a pesky knee injury that had been plaguing him. AEW took him off TV in August 2025, and he's been recovering post-operation ever since. Naturally (ha), there were real fears amongst fans that this would be the end of Dustin's iconic wrestling career.

It obviously takes someone a lot longer to bounce back from injuries aged 57 than it does some of the other names on this list. Fingers crossed this 'Natural' is about to make an all-timer of a comeback eventually.

Gabe Kidd (Shoulder)

AEW

Poor Gabe Kidd will be out indefinitely (according to boss Tony Khan) following a shoulder injury suffered during a trios match at AEW's Dynasty pay-per-view on 12 April. The timing couldn't be worse for Kidd - he was in the middle of making a name for himself in All Elite, and he'll be hopeful of rekindling that once he's back on TV.

The ever-outspoken Brit doesn't go quietly. Previously, he made a lot of noise about WWE sending Randy Orton over to New Japan for a match with him. Surely, he'll continue ruffling some feathers here or there once he's able to.

Mark Briscoe (Undisclosed)

AEW

AEW whipped Mark Briscoe from screens in March 2026 due to an undisclosed injury. Fans always worry when they hear words like "undisclosed", because it's unlike pro wrestlers to keep things private unless it's something to be concerned about. Hopefully, Briscoe is all good.

Or, at least, on the path to recovery.

Returning: TBC

Josh Alexander (Knee)

AEW

A trios match which aired on the 22 March 2026 episode of Collision will be Josh Alexander's last bout for a while. Injuries sustained during that match mean he'll be out of action for a solid while. That's a hammer blow considering he'd only just joined the AEW party in the spring months of 2025.

Tony Khan will be praying that Alexander is good to go again once he heals up. It's a bit of an understatement to say he has some unfinished business on the roster - Josh barely got started before fate dealt him a cruel blow!

Returning: TBC

Penelope Ford (Sprained Ankle)

AEW

AEW chiefs had to call an audible and send Lena Kross to ringside so Penelope Ford's tag-team partner Megan Bayne wasn't fighting from underneath (like a babyface) vs. Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron on the 25 February 2026 episode of flagship show Dynamite.

Outside the ring, a visibly distraught Penelope stared down at her ankle with her head in her hands as medics frantically worked over her. It turns out that she has a sprained ankle.

Kota Ibushi (Fractured Femur)

AEW

It could be years before fans see Kota Ibushi work a match again. He broke his femur during the 11 October 2025 edition of Collision (taped on 8 October) during a match vs. Josh Alexander. Unfortunately, Ibushi had to be stretchered out of the arena by medics, and it was clear pretty quickly that things didn't look good for him.

Nailing down a definitive return date is difficult, and it sounds outrageous to say that Kota may well be out until 2028. That's the reality of his situation though, sadly.

Returning: 2028?

Hologram (Knee)

AEW

Hologram's 'El Clon' storyline had to be cut short in September 2025, and he hit the injured list immediately due to a brutal knee injury that needed hasty surgery. There currently isn't much hope that Holo will be back doing his thing in AEW or ROH anytime soon.

Ouch.

Brian Cage (Torn Quad)

AEW

Brian Cage, like the true freak of nature and physical beast he is, vowed to return earlier than expected from a torn quadricep layoff suffered in April 2025. Nobody wanted to bet against the man doing precisely that! Cage's last AEW match came on the 22 March 2025 edition of Collision (taped 19 March), but he did wrestle on an OVW card on 20 March too before dashing off to get surgery.

This particular 'Machine' wasn't able to show his rapid powers of recovery like John Cena in his prime. He's been trying his best to get healthy again though. The good news is that Cage wrestled his first match back on an independent show in April 2026, so he should be good to go for AEW soon.

Returning: Imminently.

Colten Gunn (Knee Injury)

AEW

Billy Gunn's boy Colten needed immediate medical attention after hurting his knee during a Fatal-4-Way tag encounter on Collision in July 2025. Colten was teaming with his brother Austin vs. CRU, Gates Of Agony and the team of Big Bill and Bryan Keith when he collapsed in pain and had to be worked on.

Gunn clutched his knee after working a routine-looking spot with Bill. It's unclear just how much time Colten will spend on the injured list.

Marq Quen (Undisclosed)

AEW

Talk about bad timing, man.

Marq Quen and his Private Party tag-team partner Isiah Kassidy had only just returned to AEW television following a year or so on the sidelines when Quen was struck down by injury. Later, Fightful Select reported that an in-house source "implied that he sustained a tear of some sort".

This was included in the same injury report as Kyle Fletcher's pain, for the record. Quen's last match came on that same 28 March 2026 episode of Collision.

Returning: TBC

Leila Grey (Torn ACL)

AEW

Former Jade Cargill associate Leila Grey hasn't wrestled since losing to Mercedes Mone on the 6 December 2025 Collision show. There, or at some point around that time, she went down with a torn ACL. It probably had to be in the Mone match, because there's no way Grey was working around that kind of injury and soldiering on.

Before matching up against Mercedes, Leila had become a regular on ROH programming.

Returning: TBC

Matt Sydal (Foot)

AEW

What a nightmare one Matt Sydal has had with his foot. He was out of action for over a year before returning to rings in the summer of 2025, but has since appeared to have even more problems. Currently, he's listed on AEW's injured list, but is still under contract.

That's despite his last official All Elite match coming on the 22 May 2024 episode of Dynamite.

Returning: TBC

The Blade (Back)

AEW

The Blade has been out of commission since February 2024. He needed back fusion surgery in September, so it’ll be a long time before the tag-team man is able to wrestle for AEW again. In a heartwarming upturn to the story, his real-life wife (ex-AEW star The Bunny) told fans during a fan signing event with RDP Promotions that Blade has been doing some stand up comedy between physical therapy sessions to keep himself busy.

Good on him for that. He's literally laughing through the pain!

Returning: TBC

Jake Doyle (Torn Bicep)

AEW

Hard-hitting, no-nonsense pro Jake Doyle had a hellish start to his AEW career. He went down with a torn bicep during just his third match in the promotion (a tag effort with Mark Davis on the 24 January 2026 Collision) and has been on the sidelines ever since.

Mercifully, Doyle did undergo successful surgery to repair the tear, but now he'll play the waiting game on a return. There's simply no rushing that kind of injury, but it's definitely true that Jake has more to offer All Elite in the future.

Fans haven't actually seen the best of him yet.

Returning: TBC

Peter Avalon (Knee)

AEW

'Pretty' Peter hasn't ever really made the sort of splash he would've been hoping to in AEW circles, but he's been around since the company launched in some form or fashion. Currently, Avalon is benched and rehabbing a knee injury that sent him tumbling from view in December 2024.

Indeed, his last recorded match was on an independent card that month, and his latest All Elite bout came for ROH the prior October before that.
