Every Wrestling DEATH Ranked By Stupidity
Killing characters off in WWE or elsewhere? Best make it totally RIDICULOUS.
Gone but certainly not forgotten.
That'd sum up some of the wacky "deaths" on display here. It'd take a brave person to haul their non-fan friend into a room and ask for their thoughts after seeing some of this stuff. Beheadings, heart attacks brought on by a little too much in the way of risqué bedroom antics, death by bow and arrow, wrestlers literally having their hearts ripped out - it's all here, and it's downright silly.
Obviously, it's horrible when any pro wrestler passes away in real life, but that isn't what's being analysed here. No, these are on screen fates captured in full (often comedic) glory, and they're dafter than anything you'd see on UK TV serials like Eastenders. For those not up to speed on their British soaps, just know that Easties is prone to killing off characters left, right and centre.
Some of them even come back! On that, a few of the names included here did return to the same promotion that snuffed them out eventually. There's something so oddly charming about the way everybody just rolls with that like it's the most normal thing in the world. 'Sure, creative killed off Wrestler A, but they're playing a new gimmick now/that was years ago/nobody really cared for that storyline anyway!'.
Kayfabe deaths from WWE, WCW, TNA and even more niche products like Lucha Underground and Chikara are ripe for examination. Pretty much all of it was stupid, but there's fun to be had reliving the madness.
Just wait until you find out what takes top spot. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are presumably still laughing about it.
21. Two Dimes Goes Swimming With The Fishes (WWE NXT)
Anybody who has even a passing interest in mob culture knows there's nothing especially funny about the mafia. Often, it's serious and gritty business, which is why WWE's very own nod to organised crime in 2022 is up first here. It was outlandish, but not in the same way as some others further up the list.
NXT's Tony D'Angelo planned to take care of the traitorous Troy 'Two Dimes' Donovan over the summer. On the 28 June 2022 episode of WWE's third brand, Tony revealed that he'd dealt with Donovan by “making him sleep with the fishes”. For the record, Troy was played by AEW/ROH's Cole Karter - he was only in WWE's system for a few months before being released, but did make it onto TV before being canned.
D'Angelo seemed especially proud of the way he'd handled 'Two Dimes'. WWE didn't go into any further details on exactly what fate had befallen Donovan, but it didn't take a genius to work out that he was wearing some concrete shoes whilst taking a dip. The character has never been heard from again, and he wasn't there long enough for people to identify him once Karter jumped to All Elite.
So, it's almost as though Tony did snuff out one of his foot soldiers for daring to do him dirty in NXT. Don't worry, things get a lot more bizarre the longer this list goes on. Mob hits seem practically tame compared to some of the nonsense pro wrestling has fed fans over the years.
Sleep well, 'Two Dimes'.
