As Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux continue to dominate the news cycle, there are now some further details on the pair's purported WWE exit,

Of course, after weeks and months of speculation over their future, Kross and Scarlett's prior WWE deals expired at midnight this past Sunday, making them completely free agents who could feasibly turn up in any other wrestling promotion as and when they want. Now, some are under the impression that this is a very legitimate situation and that the husband and wife duo have indeed departed WWE, while other, more skeptical folk lean towards this being some sort of elaborate work, and that Kross and Scarlett have already quietly re-signed with the market leader.

Either way, Karrion Kross appeared on the latest edition of The Ariel Helwani Show to address his current situation, explaining how WWE didn't approach him with a new contract offer until the Tuesday prior to his release, and he was given 24 hours to accept that offer before it was rescinded.

As the former NXT Champion explained:

"I never actually received a contract offer until last week. I think it was Tuesday, off the top of my head. I got the offer, I wanted to know how they came to the valuation of that offer. I just wanted some information, some metrics, some analytics that are, 'Hey, this is how we got here.' When I enquired about that, they were unwilling to provide that information and told me I had 24 hours to agree to the offer or they were rescinding it. So, the next day, we talk, I ask if they have the information, they don't, and I said I can't make an informed decision without the information, and I'd like to keep the dialogue open. And they rescinded the offer. That's actually where we're at."

Kross continued, noting how he and Scarlett still want to be with WWE, and that he remains open to a conversation about that:

"I know how a lot of feel when they make an exit, right? I can empathise with everybody's experience. Every experience exiting the company is different, right? This isn't to disparage WWE, but because there's so many convoluted stories out there going on, and actually even, to some degree, can affect our livelihood and what we're supposed to be doing afterwards. People don't want to reach out because they don't know if they're tampering and stuff like that. The goal has always been to be with WWE. My wife and I still want to be with WWE. I'm at the table for conversations. I did not step out of the conversation, you know what I mean? We still want to be here, we still want to work it out."

Interestingly, Karrion Kross also revealed that WWE did not make a contract offer to Scarlett at this time. Instead, the company said that is something that would be addressed once matters with Kross were settled. As he put it, Kross was told, "After we deal with you, we'll deal with her."

When the topic of whether this was all a work or legitimate came up, Karrion noted how, because of the R-Truth release/rehiring and Seth Rollins' recent 'injury', people don't know whether this is all part of a work or not. Again, Kross reiterated that he and Scarlett leaving WWE is a very real thing, saying he'd prefer that the two return to WWE, but adding how some companies have already reached out to him, though AEW is not one of those.

As for this match against Sami Zayn at SummerSlam earlier this month, Kross said he had a gut feeling that day that that was going to be his final WWE match, and one friend even told him to do something for the MetLife Stadium crowd as a goodbye. However, Karrion didn't want to take away from Sami's moment, from the babyface getting the win and overcoming the villainous heel who'd been tormenting him for months. As he put it, "I don't need to make this about myself right now. It's about him."

So, Karrion Kross and Scarlett continue to be the talk of the pro wrestling news cycle, and this is something that's likely to carry on until the pair either turn up in another major promotion or reappear on WWE programming. That said, the duo have now been announced for their first post-WWE booking, with Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux advertised for a meet and greet at New York's The Big Event EXS on 15 November.
