10 Astounding Facts To Get You Pumped For Black Adam

4. Mary Marvel Obtained His Power

DC Comics

After The Wizard died (for a while), every member of The Marvel Family automatically reverted to their human forms. Although they were obviously upset, Shazam's sidekick, Mary Batson AKA Mary Marvel was utterly devastated. When she visited Gotham, she happened to meet Black Adam, who was still grieving over his wife's death. Believing his powers were a curse, he bequeathed his abilities to Mary.

Unfortunately, Adam's evil nature seeped into her, causing Mary to turn against her allies. Realising that she was being corrupted by dark magic, Mary had Adam's influence over her removed.

When the gods of the Greek and Roman pantheon saw Mary facing the forces of Apokolips, they believed she was worthy to reclaim her power and so, endowed with the magic of The Marvel Family.

But when the ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid, offered to return Black Adam's abilities to Mary, she couldn't resist since she found his might intoxicating. Unfortunately, Mary had no idea that Darkseid only did this so he could use her as a vessel for his own nefarious schemes. Ironically, Black Adam had to ally with The Marvel Family to return Mary to normal.
