Dwayne Johnson is so perfectly suited for Black Adam that he won the role... twice. In 2009, the director of Get Smart, Peter Segal, offered Johnson the role in an upcoming adaptation of Shazam. Although the wrestler-turned-actor was excited to play a supervillain, New Line Cinema suddenly shelved the project.

When Man of Steel kicked off the DC Extended Universe one year later, studio executives scrambled to find actors to play iconic DC characters. By 2014, Johnson was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood (and would eventually become the highest paid actor) so it was no surprise that producers at DC still wanted him to headline one of their projects.

Because he was offered Black Adam before, you would assume he was offered the same role again. However, he was given a choice to play as Shazam or Black Adam. Ever devoted to his loyal fanbase, the The Rock put it to a vote on Twitter and said he would play the character that his fans voted for the most.

When Black Adam received the most votes, Johnson was officially cast as Shazam's greatest enemy.
