10 Most Awesome Characters To Have Worn A Power Ring
3. Kyle Rayner
Its an honor to be chosen as a Green Lantern, but imagine you were given the last Green Lantern ring in the universe. Thats what happened to Kyle Rayner, the fourth Green Lantern from Earth. After Hal Jordan destroyed the Corps and became Parallax, Ganthet bequeathed the last green ring to Rayner, a struggling artist. Unlike most Lanterns who received training to harness their willpower, Rayner had to learn on his own. He also took the power of the ring very lightly at first, and it was only after his girlfriend was murdered that he took the Green Lantern mantle more seriously, which eventually led to him joining the Justice League. Rayner may be the rookie of the Earth Lanterns, but his accomplishments are already legendary, from harnessing Ion to being the first Green Lantern to overcome the yellow weakness. Hes had his share of difficulties and endured many losses, but hes always risen back up to plow through those obstacles while maintaining his enthusiasm. Because of his artistic and creative nature, he has given life to some of the most unique constructs that a Green Lantern has ever created. Rayner achieved a new level of greatness in the New 52 when he became a White Lantern. With this new power, he controls the light of life as well as the other seven lights from the emotional spectrum. Harnessing these abilities has forced him to deal with more negative emotions (rage, avarice, fear), but as a result hes become a more emotionally evolved individual. He is currently exploring the universe with Carol Ferris and the Templar Guardians to gain a better understanding of the universe and its inhabitants, while also learning more about his new powers.
