10 Awesome Justice League B-Listers Who Deserve More Love

3. Red Tornado

One of the few inorganic heroes in DC, Red Tornado is the superhero version of Pinocchio, not unlike another synthetic hero from DC's rivals. His desire to understand humanity and be a part of it drives his decision to be a hero and protect it from threats from Earth and beyond.

Tornado's android body was built by supervillain T.O. Morrow with Professor Ivo's assistance and, depending on the incarnation, later inhabited by a part of a sentient tornado known as Ulthoon or an air elemental created by the Earth's spirit.

He resists his creators' evil intentions, and soon teams up with the Justice League and eventually Young Justice, a team composed of the Leaguers' sidekicks and proteges. During this time, he adopts a human identity, John Smith, to further blend in with the people he works with and protects.

The android has incredible aerokinetic abilities, making him able to generate cyclone force winds, fly at great speeds, and generate storms as well. His consciousness can be uploaded into various hardware in the event his physical body is destroyed.

Red Tornado's often stoic persona and his attempts at being human make for interesting stories, especially when paired with the Young Justice team.
