1. The Joker (5th Dimensional Imp Powers)
Arguably the most dangerous power upgrade in comic book history, the Joker became incredibly powerful in the "Emperor Joker" comic book arc in the year 2000. In Emperor Joker, the Joker steals the 5D Imp Mister Mxyzptlk's reality-altering power and remakes the universe in to a twisted caricature in his own image. Mxyzptlk was interested in seeing how somebody else would do at his job and intended to give the Joker only 1% of his power. However, the Joker tricked Mxyzptlk into revealing his secret imp name and thus acquires 99% of Mxyzptlk's power, leaving him mostly powerless and leaving the Joker free to do as he wishes. With his new-found power, Joker creates a world in which people are praised for insane behaviour. The Joker revels in torturing and killing Batman on a daily basis before resurrecting him. He also does crazy things like erasing the colour white from the entire universe (an absolutely immense level of power) just for fun. With this power, the Joker was able to defeat immensely powerful beings like the Spectre, Highfather, Ganthet, Zeus, Shazam, Darkseid and the Phantom Stranger. The Joker attempts to destroy the universe but is unwilling to erase Batman from existence (due to the fact that, despite their hate for each other, they need each other to function), causing him to lose control which allows Superman, Mxyzptlk and the Spectre to defeat him. Batman is left broken by his horrific experiences at the hands of the all-powerful Joker and Superman erases Batman's memories so that he can go on. And that's what happens when someone as insane as the Joker gets to wield an ultimate power. So there you have it - ten awesome temporary power upgrades received by comic book characters.
