3. Red Skull (The Cosmic Cube)
The Red Skull is another character who is constantly striving for more power and, as a result, he has had a number of encounters with the reality warping item the Cosmic Cube. In this instance, we'll be focusing on an early occasion - in 1966's Tales of Suspense #80 - when the Red Skull acquired the Cosmic Cube by shaking hands with its keeper whilst holding a hand-held mind-controlling device, causing him to hand it over to him. After he got the Cosmic Cube, he fought against his arch-enemy - fellow super-solider Captain America - for the first time in years on an island. Using the power of the Cosmic Cube, Red Skull created a super-strong humanoid monster and used it to fight Captain America. When Captain America began besting the monster, Red Skull used his new-found power to start sending Captain America to another dimension - but Captain America offered to become his servant during the process, which Red Skull accepted. Red Skull then used the Cosmic Cube's power to encase himself in a powerful golden suit of armour and talked of creating a new order of knights to serve him. He planned to take over the world with the Cosmic Cube, then create spaceships to conquer other worlds. Captain America effectively defeated him by getting close to Red Skill while he prepared to knight him. Captain America tried to get the Cosmic Cube and, in the resulting fight, the island they were on split apart due to the Cosmic Cube's power and Red Skull lost possession of it. He then fell off a cliff while trying to regain possession of it. As previously mentioned, this wasn't the only time Red Skull has had the Cosmic Cube, but it's definitely the most memorable.
