10 Batman Plot-Holes Everyone Just Accepts
5. Alfred's Death - Batman #77 & Doomsday Clock
So, Alfred is killed in issue 77 of Tom King's Batman, but he also shows up in Doomsday Clock. Which is of interest because Doomsday Clock is set in the DC Universe's near future.
Doomsday Clock created a fair amount of continuity problems for the DC Universe, with books, like the aforementioned issue of Batman, contradicting or just straight-up ignoring it - a clear result of the many delays the unauthorised Watchmen sequel received.
It wasn't just Doomsday Clock that saw a very-much-alive Alfred post his supposed death though, with Detective Comics, Batman/Superman, and The Batman's Grave also featuring the butler. Yet, while most of these can simply be written off as having taken place before his demise, it is Doomsday Clock's near-future setting that unquestionably makes it a plot-hole.
