9. Midnighter
Two of the keystone characters of Stormwatch first appear in the A Finer World arc - Apollo and his lover, the Midnighter. The writer would describe Midnighter as "The shadow by way of John Woo", but the influence of Batman on the character is undeniable.
Midnighter was a member of a black-ops superhero team created by the villain Henry Bendix. He is what would happen if someone tried to make a Batman artificially. His body and mind filled with augmentations which meant he could see how a fight would end before it had even started. The character was a master tactician, peerless fighter and all-around badass.
Before joining the Authority, he and Apollo would work the streets of an unnamed city as homeless vigilantes fighting crime in alleyways and parking lots.
An instant fan favourite, he would even join the regular DC universe during the New 52.
