6. Riddler

The Riddler
DC Comics

Ever since he dropped his first riddle on Batman in Detective Comics #140, Edward Nigma has been a great addition to the Dark Knight's rogues gallery. With no discernible powers outside of a genius sized intellect and an obsession with puzzles, he could've easily been a one and done character. Thankfully, however, he stuck around and went from strength to strength.

Determined to prove his intellectual superiority over the Caped Crusader, he has spent the past 70-plus years, coming up with one outlandish plan after another. And even though he has yet to truly best Bruce Wayne, he seems to have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

Hell, he's even walked the straight and narrow for a period of time, specifically when he emerged from a coma with his insanity cured. This leads him to start his own detective agency, much to Batman's chagrin.

Sadlu, the lure of crime proves too much for him, even if it does take a bomb exploding in his face to pull him back in.

With his psychosis fully awakened, he disappears. When he is next seen, good Edward is gone and the Riddler has returned.
