4. Bill & Ted Save The Universe

Bill Ted Save The Universe
BOOM! Studios

Bill S. Preston and Ted Logan have traveled through time, gone to hell and made a most triumphant comeback to readers, but now they travel across the universe with the most unexpected companions - their moms!

BOOM! Studios has made leaps and bounds with the Bill & Ted franchise. A worry could be that given the niche of the stoner-metalhead subculture being all but dead the righteous dialogue or zany antics could get annoying, but writer Brian Joines has a knack for writing these characters, having already written Bill & Ted Go To Hell, and teaming up with the artist on that again, Bachan, means that there's a camaraderie there to bring out the best in each other's abilities.

The writing is hilarious but it also packs a lot of heart. The art, too, is just as animated yet also grounded in more than one way. Most excellent.
