10 Best Comics Cancelled Before Their Time

5. Thor: The Mighty Avenger

Marvel The Crew
Marvel Comics

It's difficult to imagine given his popularity in comics and the MCU, but a Thor comic book failed to find much of an audience when it was released back in 2010. Thor: The Mighty Avenger was released in advance of the first Thor movie with the intention of following that continuity in comics.

The idea was that people who enjoyed the movies but didn't know much about the comics could pick up issues of Thor: The Mighty Avenger and bridge the gap. Instead of requiring a new reader to know about decades of comic book history, they could pick up one or two issues and be hooked.

The principal focus of the series was the relationship between Thor and Jane, a relationship that has effectively died in the movies. It was a great book with fantastic artwork by Chris Samnee and writing of Roger Langridge that kids and adults truly enjoyed, but despite the quality of the title, it ultimately failed to maintain its audience.

The series only managed to kick out a total of eight issues before being canceled. It featured numerous characters from Thor's gallery of friends and foes, but despite the excellent storytelling and gorgeous artwork, Marvel killed the title.
