How best to describe this comic? Tala once told her mother that if anything happened, go find a man named Eddie and he'd help her out. Well, with extra-dimensional police hunting her down, Tala does go looking for Eddie, and finds him cheating at cards in some sleazy hole-in-the-wall bar.

They get out of there and after some explanations about Tala being part-demon and also Eddie's daughter. Long story short, Eddie becomes the pug we see on the cover to hide in plain sight, and the disturbingly macabre police hunting Tala lead to a massive action scene as it draws to a close.

This is an event-driven plot with a quick talking bit in the middle that sets the pace for this perfectly bonkers tale. Rafer Roberts is fairly popular for his Archer and Armstrong and other Valiant work and this carries on the spirit of the comedic-action duo so well.

As for the art, Mike Norton draws a very straightforward, though simple style so when the mystical happens, things feel like they've been ramped up to 11, and it gets a lot more extraordinary and/or horrifying, with Marissa Louise doubling down on that feeling brilliantly.
