Its funny how, for a non-fictional car, the Batmobile is famous worldwide. One doesn't even need to say which Batmobile they're talking about; once the word is spoken they see one or many of them in their minds eye. Seeing the first Batmobile, or its prototype, in action in the opening pages of Dark City was nothing short of cinematic. It was very reminiscent of the Batmobile's first appearance in Batman '89 and Batman Begins as he was chased by the GCPD and displayed tech that made the police not only hesitate, but stare in awe. As the Batmobile raced through a tunnel towards a police blockade, the question wasn't 'how can Batman possibly get out of this?' but 'what kind of equipment is he going to use to escape?' As mentioned, seeing the Batmobile in action through several different mediums doesn't leave much to the imagination as this car is basically capable of anything. Leave it to Snyder to surprise readers as there hasn't been a Batmobile which has leapt off the road, stuck onto the roof of a tunnel, continue to drive via contractible wheels and simply fly over the blockade. This scene is a standout as it not only shows one of the coolest designs and abilities for a Batmboile, but Scott Snyder's vivid imagination for being able to create such a stunning scene unlike anything most fans have seen. What's more is Batman's evident glee at owning such a vehicle. This Batmobile certainly lives up to the mantle.
