10 Best Super Villains (With No Super Powers)
4. Shredder
A bit of a break from the typical Marvel/DC duopoly on comics to focus on Shredder, the main nemesis of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The fact he remains so memorable and iconic despite lacking the signal boost the two mainstream publishers offer shows just how fantastic a villain he is.
The Turtles are hardly an unknown indie publication, but any discussion on comics tend to revolve entirely around the big two. Here though, Shredder is simply too good to ignore.
His spiky design with weaponised claws on his hands, arms, legs, shoulders and head inspires fear on sight, as well as the fact he’s skilled enough at martial arts to take on all four Turtles at once.
As leader of the villainous Foot Clan of ninjas, Shredder is involved in just about any criminal activity you can think of, battling the Turtles all the way.
Though he’d always been a force to be reckoned with in the comics, it was the animated show where the Shredder truly rose to the rank of central nemesis. This was the show which firmly embedded in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the cultural zeitgeist of their era, and Shredder was right there with them.
