Sat upon his throne, Moon Knight seems to be prepared for battle.
A forty-one year veteran of the industry, Bill Sienkiewicz first started work at the tender age of nineteen, after showing his portfolio to DC's art director Vince Colletta. Though they didn't have anything for him at the time, a quick phone call to Neal Adams would put him in touch with Marvel editor-in-chief, Jim Shooter. Shooter would snap him up straight away, putting him to work on the Hulk, as well as Moon Knight.
This initial three-year run would lay him in good stead when a re-launched version for Marvel Now would see him return for this variant.
Striking a stoic pose in his inner chambers, this cover sends a clear message that this is someone you really don't want to mess with. The eyes staring out from underneath his hood seem to almost burn, and the lack of any facial features just feel a lot more disconcerting than usual.
Considering who the subject matter is, that is really saying something.
