8. What If... Wolverine Had Killed The Hulk?

Silver Surfer Infinity Gauntlet
Marvel Comics

What If...? Vol.1 #31 (1982)

Wolverine was first introduced in Incredible Hulk #180-181 where he was pitted against the Green Goliath in the forests of Canada. Wolverine proved capable of penetrating the Hulk's skin and survived a beating, but in the original books, the Wendigo interrupted their battle and Wolverine was put to sleep alongside the Hulk.

But what if that didn't happen and Wolverine actually killed the Hulk? The Hulk's death would have severe repercussions across the Marvel Universe, but in this story, Wolverine has to face murder charges after he fatally wounds the Hulk.

Facing the law, he falls into the hands of Magneto who recruits him into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. After taking up with the villainous organization, Wolverine is given his first assignment: infiltrate the X-Men, which he does fairly easily.

While with the team, he proved his abilities in the Danger Room against some Sentinels, but when it came time to betray them, he pulled a double-cross against the Master of Magnetism himself. The fight ends in a draw as both Mutants kill one another, and it all came to pass because Wolverine was able to kill the Hulk the first time they met.
