10 Characters Who Proved Captain America WRONG

2. Iron Man

Captain America Surrenders Civil War
Marvel Comics

There are a lot of things you can say about Marvel's Civil War, but whatever side of the argument you fall on, it's easy to see that both sides have merit. On the one hand, the Superhuman Registration Act is needed following the deaths of some 600 people, while the other side of the argument dissuades government intrusion into superhero privacy while recognizing the need to fix some things.

Iron Man stood on the pro-Registration side of the line and Cap stood on the other. Both men pulled in allies, and the two camps fought against one another in one of the most devastating events in Marvel Comics' history.

The thing about the fight between Cap and Iron Man is, they were both equally right and equally wrong. Cap proved Stark wrong by pointing out his draconian methods of outright imprisonment, and that his recklessness got Goliath killed.

On the other side of the argument, Iron Man was able to show Cap that he was in the wrong by fighting against the government he was essentially the icon of, and in the end, Cap gave himself up when he saw how things were progressing. Both were right, and both were wrong, but at the end of the day, Cap was the one lying dead on a slab.
