10 Comic Book Characters Who Wouldn't Translate To Live-Action Movies

5. Matter Eater Lad

Dazzler Marvel
DC Comics

In our continuing saga of sub-par heroes with literal names, Matter Eater Lad has the ability to eat anything. Unlike Stone Boy, Matter Eater Lad was accepted into the dubious Legion of Super Heroes. Lad rarely appeared in LSH comics because the writers struggled to come up with ways to include him. Panel space is precious, and the guy who eats things wasn't priority. This led to him often being written out of stories. Lad often had to leave Earth to deal with the politics of his home planet.

Known as Tenzil Kem on his home planet of Bismoli, Lad and his race were forced to adapt after all of the planet's food became inedible. The Bismolis developed incredible bite power, strong teeth and digestive tracts. They have not developed incredible box office appeal.

Matter Eater Lad was mentioned by Peacemaker in the HBO live-action series. The titular character claims to have teamed up with Lad in the past and witnessed him eat an entire Wendy's. Like others on this list, Matter Eater Lad is best suited as cameos or off-screen mentions. DC still has intellectual property to burn through before turning to the likes of Captain Pica here.
