10 Comic Book Characters Who Wouldn't Translate To Live-Action Movies
6. Dazzler
She's a well-known X-Men, but Dazzler in a movie would be little more than a pretty face and CGI light show. Dazzler's very origin is the result of a tie-in between Marvel and disco recording label Casablanca Records. Imagine being the writer at Marvel who was given the assignment of thinking up a cool disco-themed superhero. That person didn't exist. Because of the focus on the tie-in, Dazzler was created by a committee (as all the best art is).
Their best efforts produced Alison Blaire. Alison is a mutant with the ability of turning sound vibrations into light and energy beams. In a truly unsurprising choice, the writers made Alison an aspiring singer who uses her powers as part of her stage show. The tie-in with Casablanca eventually ended, but Dazzler was already in the world. The show must go on.
Dazzler has managed to stay associated with the X-Men and various X-teams over the decades. This warranted one small on-screen appearance in Dark Phoenix. The cameo fit the scene, and there was nothing wrong with it per se, but ballooning her role to a supporting lead or above won't be necessary unless disco makes one hell of a comeback.
