10 Comic Book Covers That Totally Lied To You

5. All-New X-Men #20

Daredevil #179
Marvel Comics

In the All-New X-Men, Beast brings the original five members of the X-Men from the past into the present, stranding them. This development made for an interesting series of confrontations, as the current members of the X-Men had issues with the teenagers because of something they would eventually do.

For Cyclops, he wasn't trusted due to the fact that he killed Professor X while he was possessed by the Phoenix Force. Wolverine especially didn't trust him at all, and he kept an eye on him the entire time the young Scott Summers was hanging around the present.

All-New X-Men #20 came along and offered up a cover that doesn't make a lot of sense, given the ongoing animosity between many of the characters. Cyclops had it rough, as more than just Wolverine had a problem with him. Why then is he making out with Laura, otherwise known as the teenage, female clone of Wolverine?

Not only does it go against both of their personalities to do something like that, but it also clashed with everything that happened in the preceding 19 issues. Open the book, and you'll only find a panel where she gives him a friendly hug when he's feeling especially down. That's it.
