Contentious, confusing and wildly controversial, The Clone Saga from Spider Man is DEFINITELY an event that had major repercussions. Taking its cue from a classic 1970s story arc, the 1990s Clone Saga was, to put it mildly, absolutely f*cking insane. Peter Parkers life was never more complicated...Or more tragic. The revelation that Spideys clone Ben Reilly (who was plying his trade as The Scarlet Spider and holds the dubious distinction of being this writers favourite childhood character) was, in fact, the original Peter Parker was just too much for some readers. Peter even retired with a pregnant Mary Jane, whilst Ben became an all-new Spider Man in an all-new series (that actually deserves much more credit than it gets). Phew! Of course, this is comics, so it was all undone a couple years later...
