3. Stephanie Brown As Batgirl

Daken Wolverine
DC Comics

Stephanie Brown is the daughter of a Batman rogue known as the Cluemaster, who is basically a store brand Riddler. Tired of waiting out her dad's long stints in prison, Brown decides to take up a life of crime-fighting. Specifically, she decides to spoil all of her father's plans and starts calling herself the Spoiler. She leaves clues to her dad's crimes in hopes that Batman and Robin catch him.

At one point, Brown teams up with Tim Drake, and together they capture her father, the Cluemaster. Brown realized that she enjoyed her time as the Spoiler and decided to go full time.

Brown starts patrolling the city with Robin, and the two become romantically involved. Their romance happens even though, at this point, Stephanie is pregnant with another man's baby, and she doesn't even know Robin's true identity. Tim Drake even takes up a fake persona to accompany Brown to Lamaze classes.

Later, Brown befriends Cassandra Cain, who helps her sharpen her crime-fighting skills.

Even later, Brown spends time filling in as Robin. However, after the events of Batman RIP, Cain passes on the mantle of Batgirl to Brown. Cain does this without any of the Bat family's knowledge, and both Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson are shocked to find a new Batgirl roaming the streets at night.

After Dick and Barabra discover that it's Brown under the Batgirl cowl, they confront her. In her role as Oracle, Barbra Gordon demands that Brown give up the Batgirl persona. Brown refuses, and the two come to a deal. Stephanie Brown can continue as Batgirl under Barbara's guidance. Brown even gets a sweet new costume out of the agreement.
