10 Comic Book Plots That Will Never Be Resolved
9. The Other Miles Morales
When Marvel's Ultimate line launched, one of its key goals was to shake up conventions and tell stories completely unlike those of the main Marvel Universe. It delivered on that promise by killing off Peter Parker and replacing him with all new character Miles Morales as Spider-Man.
Miles proved popular and so, to capitalise on this, Marvel had him cross over with the main universe Spider-Man in the miniseries Spider-Men (Ironically, years earlier, writer Brian Michael Bendis said that if the Ultimate and main universes ever crossed over, Marvel had officially run out of ideas. Looking at Civil War II, he might not have been wrong).
It was a fun series, involving the Spider-Men teaming up to stop a dimension-hopping Mysterio, but ended on a cliffhanger. When Peter returned home, he googled 'Miles Morales' to see who his dimension's version of the other Spider-Man is. The final panel is him staring in shock at the computer screen.
So who is the other Miles Morales? Supervillain? Famous scientist? Gigolo? Well we'll never know. No other writer ever bothered to pick up the plot point. There was talk of Peter meeting this Miles, leading to himappearing as a supporting character in Amazing Spider-Man, but that all became moot after Secret Wars when the Ultimate Miles Morales was moved to the main Marvel Universe.
