10 Comic Book Sidekicks Better Than Their Mentors

8. Wally West

For too long fans have mistaken Barry Allen's version of The Flash as the Fastest Man Alive when it is, in fact, none other than Wally West. Wally is Allen's nephew, and he gained his super speed abilities similar to how his uncle did in an unhealthy lab accident.

West, who goes by the moniker of Kid Flash, is also known for being a founding member of the Teen Titans. But what most people forget are the things that make Wally a better speedster than the original number one contender.

For one thing, Barry requires the use of a cosmic treadmill to travel through time. Wally, on the other hand, does not require any hardware to journey to the past or into the future, thus giving him an edge in that department over his mentor.

They both can pass through walls, but West can make those objects explode. Wally can even lend speed to objects and drain the velocity from things already in motion. His perfect connection to the Speed Force and ability to access it in ways Barry cannot is not only advantageous against Allen but any other speedster that tries to take him on.
