10 Comic Book Tie-Ins That Made Great Movies Better
3. Se7en
In Se7en, David Fincher masterfully directs Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as two detectives on the hunt for a serial killer using the Seven Deadly Sins as the basis for his murders. It's moody, brilliant and just great.
One of the most notable parts of the film is the last 15 minutes of the film. The killer finally reveals himself by walking into the police station, but he is no one we know. He is a John Doe enacting his final play. That twist alone has made it a well-discussed film, but with such a limited time with the killer, not much is ever revealed about him.
A little over a decade after the film came out, however, a seven issue miniseries came out. A unique adaptation of the film, it follows John Doe, in his first killing with the Glutton, to the finale of the movie with the final sins being revealed. The look into the who and why of this mysterious character brings an added dimension to the movie that makes it ascend past great.
