Batman Beat Up
DC Comics

Yes, the Jim Carrey movie. Or, more accurately, the more violent, overtly villainous Dark Horse Comics iteration of the character. Or, even more accurately, the Dark Horse Comics iteration of the character based on not only the Jim Carrey movie, but also the original, violent and gory comic upon which that movie was based. Phew.

When The Joker gets his hands on the magical mask, the first thing he does is use it to give Batman one of the worst beatings he's ever received, leaving him out of action for weeks, during which time The Mask/Joker runs riot all over Gotham.

Eventually and inevitably, Batman returns and (with, yes, a little prep time, and some help from The Mask's Lieutenant Kellaway) defeats the green menace, appealing to Joker's ego long enough to seperate him from The Mask.
