In the Amazing Spider-Man #542, Wilson Fisk learned, the hard way, what can happen when you push a good man too far.

Taking a break from harassing regular foe Daredevil, the Kingpin of crime sent an assassin after Spidey, but accidentally wound up striking down Aunt May with the bullet. Big mistake. He was quick to find out what happens when Spider-Man stops holding back.

Without a single smart-alec joke - without even the suit - Peter strode into the cell block where the Kingpin was serving time and slapped (yes, slapped) him senseless, in front of the whole prison.

With Fisk smashed to bits, broken and bleeding, Peter left him with the promise that if Aunt May died, so would he - that he'd be back to finish the job.
