10 Comics Fan Theories Confirmed By The Creators

9. ...And They Did The Same With The Fantastic Four

Back in 2015, Marvel did the unthinkable and canceled (or "put on hiatus") the ongoing Fantastic Four comic. There was a major outcry of foul play, as fans of Marvel's first family couldn't quite believe that one of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's most beloved creations had been put out to pasture.

And, wouldn't you know it, it was just around the time that FOX was going to release their new movie version of Stretch, Sue, Johnny, and Ben.

Straight away the internet found itself awash with conspiracy theories, and the most blatant one was that Disney themselves had pulled the plug on the comic book. Which made perfect sense. After all, what company wants to give one of its rivals free publicity?

Marvel, obviously, denied this. Claiming a disconnect between the FF and their current fanbase, but even Jonathan Hickman, the writer behind the franchise at that point, called bull honky on that when he told Newsarama "...the idea behind that conceit is that the core concept is somehow broken. Which is nonsense.”

But it was Marvel editor John Barber who put it best when he told them: "I think the lack of a current Fantastic Four series owes a lot more to the film situation than to a lack of interest. Not to be blunt, but three !*$% terrible movies don’t help anything."
