One of the founding members of the Fantastic Four, Johnny Storm is best described as impulsive and hot-headed. This may be an accurate, if not an on-the-nose description, but it does not take away from the fact that he is willing to do what it takes to save lives.

This is seen in the The Last Stand storyline where the Human Torch, the Thing and the Future Foundation face off against an Annihilation Wave from the Negative Zone.

The Fantastic Four is spread thin dealing with various crises across the universe, and due to this the heroes dealing with the invasion are woefully unprepared and underpowered to face the incoming threat.

Realizing that the portal to the Negative Zone needs to be sealed, Johnny directs Ben and the children back to their reality so that he can fend off the invading army. He does this knowing it is a losing battle, but valiantly faces down the odds, saving his family and the world as a whole.
