10 Comics Superman Haters MUST Read

2. Superman: Birthright

Superman For The Man Who Has Everything
DC Comics

Superman origin stories are a dime a dozen. There are only so many ways you can flip the script on the same basic premise. What makes Superman: Birthright such a breath of fresh air is that it isn't just one origin story, but two.

Birthright takes a page from the book of the long-running drama series, Smallville, and focuses mostly on the relationship between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. It acts as a dual origin tale, flashing back between the past, when they were childhood friends, to the present, where the two eventually clash.

This one has everything that makes up a great superhero comic. The amount of action, heart, and well rounded characters create an a engaging narrative that would grab anyone's attention. It's the greatest Superman movie never made, and for that reason it is an essential read for anyone who doesn't understand why so many fans love the boy scout in blue.

All that being said, there's one other comic that nudges slightly past it in the Superman Hall of Fame...
