If there’s one other thing that Marvel 1602 proved, it’s that readers are always curious to see alternate versions of their favourite characters from other time periods. Batman: Curse of the White Knight indulges in this while also telling a modern-day story, linking to the past like it’s some sort of Zelda game.

While investigating the Joker’s latest escape from Arkham Asylum, Batman begins to uncover an intriguing mystery that has been buried with time, presumably for good reason. This mystery takes us back to the very founding of Gotham city, and features characters clearly linked to Bruce Wayne, Joker, and Azrael. The most exciting of these is Lafayette ‘Laffy’ Arkham, a man who may or may not have inspired the Joker’s sense of style, and who also may or may not be a legit vampire.

Seeing as Curse of the White Knight is an ongoing series, we still don't know exactly where the story is going and how these historical figures will relate to their contemporary counterparts. Hell, at this point we’re still not even sure what the ‘Curse’ is! Whatever is happening, one thing is for sure: it’s a whole lot more exciting than anything on the History Channel.
