10 Comics That Never Got An Ending
7. War Heroes
There is an argument to be made that Mark Millar is a "One-Trick-Pony" when it comes to comics. While this might be true to some extent, when he does that one trick so very, very well, it's hard to argue that it's a bad thing. The trick in question is taking a mature real-world approach to superheroes and asking, "If X happened, what would the result be?".
If a man put on a costume and decided to fight crime? You would get Kick-Ass. If super-criminals moved to a place where there were no heroes? You would get Super Crooks. If the American military cracked the secret to making super soldiers? You would get War Heroes.
Instead of covering old ground, he would take the themes and ideas he introduced in the Ultimate's and, along with artists Tony Harris, expand upon them outside the confines of Marvel's need to protect its brand. What followed was a title more akin to films like Jar Head or Black Hawk down; only this time both sides of the confrontation could fly and smash tanks with their bare fists.
