10 Comics That Never Got An Ending

8. Image United

Daredevil The Target
Image Comics

When seven artists grew tired of watching Marvel get wealthy off their creations, they left and formed Image Comics. The founders would start from scratch with new characters they would own completely. They structured the company in such a way that each was free to do with these properties as they saw fit, be that take them and leave or even set up their own toy company.

Although initially the likes of Spawn, Youngblood's and Savage Dragon would all exist in a "Shared Universe" much like those at Marvel or DC, internal conflicts meant that the idea soon fell by the wayside. Image also began publishing books that wouldn't fit inside this new shared universe, like Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead.

In 2009 the company released Image United, a crossover starring all the original superhero characters still under the Image umbrella. The sales pitch is that it would feature work from all seven founders and Robert Kirkman, now a fully-fledged partner. Despite a successful first issue, old rivalries and excuses raised their heads. Each issue would ship significantly later than the last, even going so far as to have the publisher put out special "Interlude" issues in the faint hope of covering the gap.

Last Issue Published: #3 (of six)
